Hugh Fitzgerald Ryan

Born in 1941, Hugh Ryan is an accomplished teacher, author and artist. He has written seven novels: The Kybe, Reprisal, On Borrowed Ground, Ancestral Voices, In the Shadow of the Ombu Tree, The Devil To Pay, and Landfall, stories set in a variety of periods—Elizabethan, Napoleonic, 19th century Uruguay and Ireland, and early 20th century Ireland. All but the last novel are available from [email protected] and from amazon.com. Two have been adapted for film. He is a native of Skerries in north county Dublin, and has eight grown-up children and 14 grandchildren.
